The Added Value teens, staff, and interns, accompanied by Heifer International staff, went on a farm trip to Suffolk County Farm on Tuesday November 7th, 2006.The Long Island farm is run by Cornell University Cooperative Extension. When we first got there, we took a tour. On the tour we met all the farm animals such as pigs, cows, goats, dwarf goats, horses, llamas, etc. After we were done with lunch we went to help out around the farm. We were helping move all the farm animals that had water pipes that were not heated to sections that were heated. We did this because winter was coming and when it gets really cold and the pipes freeze the animals will not have water. During our visit to the farm we learned more about Heifer International and how to raise and take care of animals. We also had so much fun petting, holding and walking the animals and playing tag in the big corn maze. After our experience of taking care of the animals on their farm we hope to get animals of our own someday.
